community, have formed a licensing agreement whereby PlanetRx.com
has secured its new remote shopping service with encryption technology
designed by Certicom. Certicoms trusted elliptic curve cryptography
(ECC) provides PlanetRx.com mobile users added assurance that their
personal and financial information will be protected when utilizing
Palm Computing OS devices to perform mobile transactions with the
PlanetRx.com Web site.
Available now, PlanetRx.com's new remote shopping service allows consumers
with a Palm Computing platform device and modem to quickly order certain
products they have previously purchased from their personal PlanetRx.com
shopping list, including over-the-counter medication and medical supplies,
vitamins and herbs, and healthcare and beauty products. Consumers
simply download and install free-of-charge a remote shopping application
from the PlanetRx.com Web site to their Palm device and can place
orders through PlanetRx.coms Web site from their HotSyncÔ
cradle and Internet-connected desktop PC, or through a modem attached
to a Palm ComputingÒ device. Mobile users
will soon be able to choose from PlanetRx.com's full line of products,
in addition to using the integrated wireless Internet support available
on Palm VII organizers.
The PlanetRx.com remote shopping service is built on a technology
platform that contains trusted encryption technology from Certicom
and infrastructure hardware and software from IBM. By extending its
Web-based heath and beauty shopping service to mobile devices, PlanetRx.com
is helping to transform traditional retailing into convenient and
mobile e-tailing.
