Dynamical Systems Research Licenses Certicom’s WTLS Plus to Enable Secure WAP Gateway

High Performance Security Technology Allows Secure Wireless Transactions

Hayward, Calif., February 24, 2000 – Certicom, a leading provider of mobile e-business security, and Dynamical Systems Research Ltd. (DSR), a leader in mobile messaging and data systems, today announced a licensing agreement whereby DSR will license Certicom’s WTLS Plus™ technology to provide advanced encryption for the Catapult WAP Gateway™. The DSR Catapult WAP Gateway supports secure wireless applications for mobile phones, ranging from Internet email and messaging to mobile banking, stocktrading and other mobile commerce ("m-commerce") services.

"DSR’s WAP Catapult Gateway enables a core part of the intrinsically secure capabilities of our own WAPHUB", says DSR Managing Director Janko Mrsic-Flogel. "Thanks to Certicom’s industry-leading encryption technology we can offer all our WAPHUB customers a safe, secure environment to host and deliver their own m-commerce services to WAP phone users everywhere."

DSR provides research, development and consulting services to blue chip clients in the UK and overseas. The company is currently helping its clients to develop client/server mobile solutions, communications interfaces and software applications for mobile computing and telecommunications. Certicom's encryption technology provides DSR with significant performance and size advantages. The small code size of the WTLS Plus toolkit and straightforward interface also enables rapid development and seamless integration with DSR's complete WAP development product line. DSR's WAP products include a robust WAP Developer Toolkit and WAP browser software.

"DSR offers wireless network developers a rich portfolio of WAP solutions for their wireless needs," said Richard Depew, executive vice president of field operations, Certicom. "The WAP market continues to accelerate on a global scale, and our partnership with DSR furthers Certicom’s expansion into international markets."
